Let’s be honest: These companies are growing a mile a minute, and it is our job as a labor union, a movement, the driving force to ensure we hold them accountable every step of the way. This takes many forms: participating in strikes, holding meetings, and rallying together. It’s no secret that new technology threatens work for millions nationwide.

For example, Manufacturers are proposing an Autonomous Vehicle- “autonomous” or “self-driving” vehicles are those in which the operation of the vehicle occurs without direct driver input to control the steering, acceleration, and braking and are designed so that the driver is not expected to monitor the roadway while operating in self-driving mode constantly.”National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)

#AB316: The bill would prohibit the operation of an autonomous vehicle with a gross vehicle weight of 10,001 pounds or more on public roads for testing purposes, transporting goods, or transporting passengers without a human safety operator physically present in the autonomous vehicle at the time of operation.
